Quantum Artificial Intelligence makes appearance at the 8th Nicosia Book Fest in Cyprus
October 7, 2023

From October 5 to October 8, 2023, the 8th Nicosia Book Fest was held in Akrapolis Park in Nicosia, Cyprus. China participated as guest of honor for the first time on the Fest, with 20 Chinese publishers making a presence. Zong Junfeng, Chairman of Tsinghua University Press Group and Sun Yu, Associate General Editor from Tsinghua University Press (TUP) participated in this Fest and showcased 34 titles to international publishers and local readers.

As a leading university press in China, publishing academic monographs and professional books reflecting China's comprehensive scientific and technological strength has always been the primary focus of TUP, and also constitute its traditional strength. It is worth mentioning that among the books exhibited this time, Quantum Artificial Intelligence written by Professor Jin Xianmin and Hu Junjie of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is the first such title on quantum artificial intelligence in China.

In the middle of the 20th century, the continuous development of quantum theory brought about major breakthroughs in technology, such as the well-known semiconductors, lasers, and nuclear energy are the byproducts of this trend. As we are approaching the limits prescribed by Moore's Law and Dennard scaling, it is becoming increasingly difficult for advanced applications to benefit directly from rapid increase in chip performance. The next decade will be a golden age for design of chip architecture. Only by innovative reform of the underlying logic of the physical computing can we break through the limitations of quantum physics and ushering a golden age of rapid increase of computing power again. Quantum AI will kick-start diverse socioeconomic and scientific changes. The title Quantum Artificial Intelligence adopts a writing style that is friendly to deep learning enthusiasts, introduces the context and underlying logic of quantum computers, and guides readers to build quantum artificial intelligence applications.

We believe that the appearance of this book at the Nicosia Book Festival not only demonstrate to the world the research results of Chinese scientists on the cutting-edge topic of quantum artificial intelligence, but also help to promote international academic exchanges and inspire scholars from all over the world to build synergy and make breakthroughs as soon as possible.
