Medicine Advances' Inclusion in Scopus Boosts Visibility for Medical Research

On October 13, 2025, the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board announced the acceptance of Medicine Advances for inclusion in the Scopus Database after a rigorous review process. This inclusion not only represensts a significant international recognition of the journal's academic quality and publishing standards, but also marks a considerable elevation in the journal's global reach and influence. This achievement is also a acknowledgment of the sustained efforts of the editors-in-chief, editorial board members, young editorial board members, reviewers, and authors. Staying true to our original mission, the journal remains committed to upholding rigorous academic standards, building a high-level international platform for academic exchange, and delivering solid and high-quality services for experts and scholars in the medical field.

Medicine Advances is a comprehensive, peer-reviewed, open access medical journal co-published by Tsinghua University and Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences). It is published by Tsinghua University Press, globally distributed by Wiley, and operates under a peer-review and open access model. The journal is dedicated to promoting the application of multidisciplinary integration in diagnosis and treatment of clinical disease and medical research. It emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, combining expertise from different fields to explore complex medical issues in depth from multiple dimensions. The journal aims to gather the latest global scientific research progress and technological innovations, covering major breakthroughs in basic research, applied achievements in clinical research, the latest technological advances, and innovative cases of interdisciplinary collaboration. Furthermore, the journal is dedicated to exploring and developing the practical significance of artificial intelligence in the medical field, actively adapting to the trend in the age of medical big data, showcasing the new landscape of scientific research where cutting-edge computer technologies integrate with medicine. The journal provides an open academic forum for researchers, clinicians, public health experts, and policy makers to share and disseminate knowledge. It was selected for the 2024 Guangdong High-level STM Journal Construction Project and also indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).


The Editor-in-Chief of the journal is Professor YU Xueqing. He serves as President at both the Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital and the Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences. An accomplished physician-scientist, Prof. Yu is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and has served as the 10th Chairman of the Chinese Society of Nephrology. Additionally, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Nephrology and holds the position of Associate Editor for Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine.

He has been awarded 44 research grants at various levels, including the National Key R&D Program -- Precision Medicine Initiative, Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, International Cooperation Program projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, project leader for the "12th Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Support Program, and project leader for the 973 Program.


His scholarly output is extensive, with 443 scientific papers published in prestigious journals such as Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Cell Metabolism, and Science Translational Medicine. He has also authored 17 monographs. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards including the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class), the Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class), and the Natural Science Award (First Class).


He established an internationally leading peritoneal dialysis center, known as the "Guangzhou Model." This initiative was hailed by The Lancet as the "engine of nephrology development in China."
