In the afternoon of September 16th, the inaugural meeting of the editorial board for Civil Engineering Sciences was successfully held. Over thirty board members from both China and abroad, as well as representatives from the organizing institutions and the publisher, participated either online or in-person. Professor FANG Dongping provided a detailed overview of the journal's vision, current status, and future roadmap. Founded in response to the growing convergence of civil engineering with other disciplines and global demands for sustainable construction and development, Civil Engineering Sciences aims to serve as a high-quality platform for disseminating knowledge and facilitating sci-tech exchange. Subsequently, Chairman YI Jun and Academician NIE Jianguo delivered their speeches, acknowledging the efforts of CCES, Tsinghua University, and all contributors in preparing the journal. They shared their vision of the journal becoming a leading platform for academic exchange in the field of civil engineering and for opening new horizons for the industry.

During the discussion, attendees emphasized the importance of maintaining strict standards for academic rigor and language quality. They also highlighted the need to support young scholars through submission guidance and incentives to aid their academic development. Suggestions included introducing case studies on civil engineering curriculum design, linking major projects with industrial needs to enhance the journal's relevance to both research and education. The use of AI tools to improve operational efficiency and author services was also encouraged.
